Reformer Pilates follows the same principles as mat based Pilates, but is a little different! Reformer Pilates is done using the Pilates Reformer machine and is generally more intense and more dynamic than mat based Pilates as it adds resistance to the Pilates exercises via the use of the springs which form part of the machine.
Easy. Once you have tried your taster class, if you are keen to continue, simply book in for a Pilates Assessment and our APPI trained Physiotherapist instructors will talk to you about your medical history, goals, and any experience you have with Pilates. They may also run you through our 3D Movement Analysis and Gait Scan technology to make sure we have a clear understanding of your starting point.
Think of Reformer Pilates like an exercise class – wear something you are comfortable in, and that you don’t mind getting a little sweaty! you’ll need to wear specific Pilates socks in our studio, but don’t worry if you don’t have any, we sell these in our clinic.
Pilates can be a beneficial component of a weight loss regimen. While it primarily focuses on core strength and flexibility, it can help tone the body and boost metabolism over time. Combined with a balanced diet and aerobic exercise, Pilates can support your weight loss journey.
Pilates is a form of strength training, especially for the core muscles. Its focused exercises can help tone and strengthen various muscle groups, promoting better posture and overall muscle balance.
Both yoga and Pilates promote flexibility, strength, and mindfulness. However, Pilates often emphasises core strength and controlled movements using equipment like reformers, while yoga places a stronger emphasis on flexibility and often incorporates spiritual elements and breath work.
